Our residents management company has three blocks of apartments on the seafront in Bexhill, all three buildings are having new flat to Pitch roofs this summer of some 2000 square feet. It was imperative that our normal influx of Herring gulls which start breeding in March did not get settled on them as the chicks would be in residence until October.
We initially purchased one Professional 6.25 Metre Peregrine Pro Bird Scare Kite with double strength line
In March and put it on the building being worked on first and the seagulls disappeared and we had no nests at all. We usually could expect about 10-15 nests and 1-2 chicks per nest.
We then purchased two more and although they do sometimes sit on the roofs we haven’t had any nests or chicks and our building program is underway successfully. We could have expected 20+ nests during the season and these hypnotic birds have solved our problems.
